In response to recent changes to the AdvaMed Code and other ongoing changes in the health care industry regarding the provision of medical research, educational, and charitable contribution grants, ArthroCare has instituted a formal grant request submission process.  This will ensure that ArthroCare and its partners in the health care industry will continue to comply with the laws, guidance, and rules that regulate our industry.

If you have any questions regarding ArthroCare’s grant request process, please send an email to GrantRequests@Arthrocare.com.

Medical research grant requests

ArthroCare is committed to continue to provide appropriate medical research grants to Health Care Professionals and Institutions engaged in the advancement of medical technology for the health and safety of patients. Based on the revised AdvaMed Code no longer permitting the provision of unrestricted medical research grants, if you wish to request a medical research grant from ArthroCare, you must submit a request in writing on your Institution or Health Care Practice letterhead, as applicable which includes the following:

  • Name of the Health Care Professional or Institution requesting the research grant;
  • The topic or hypothesis of the research;
  • The key protocols under which the research must be conducted;
  • The total amount of research funding requested, including amounts to be paid at any fixed milestones or intervals;
  • Detail the specific medical field pertaining to ArthroCare Products to be researched;
  • Confirm ArthroCare’s rights to publish or use the research results; and
  • Any necessary approvals or authorizations from the appropriate national, regional or local authorities (such as IRB requirements) that may be required.

To submit a medical research grant request, please send an email to GrantRequests@Arthrocare.com.

Educational grant requests

ArthroCare is committed to continue to provide appropriate educational grants to educational conferences and Institutions engaged in the training and education of health care professionals. If you wish to request an educational grant from ArthroCare, you must submit a request in writing on your Institution or conference letterhead (Note: requests on physician or physician practice letterhead connot be considered), as applicable which includes the following:

  • Name of the conference or Institution requesting the grant;
  • Proposed amount of the grant;
  • Detail the specific training in a medical field pertaining to ArthroCare Products to be provided by the recipient (include an agenda for the meeting or training);
  • Any necessary approvals or authorizations from the appropriate national, regional or local authorities (if any) that may be required;
  • Documentation that substantiates your conference’s accreditation status as a provider of medical training and education or your Institution’s status as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization; and
  • Type of Health Care Professionals to receive education or training (i.e. residents, fellows, or if practicing physicians, their specialty or field of study).

NOTE: Educational grant requests should not include booth, exhibit, or other marketing/advertising/sponsorship opportunities for ArthroCare. The IRS permits acknowledgments of appreciation for a grant to identify and briefly describe the grantor and its products or product lines in neutral terms and may include grantor's name, logo, or well-established slogan, as long as such acknowledgments do not include (a) comparative or qualitative descriptions of sponsor's products, services, or facilities; (b) price information or other indications of savings or value associated with sponsor’s products or services; (c) a call to action; (d) an endorsement; or (e) an inducement to buy, sell, or use sponsor's products or services.  Please send all marketing opportunities separately to ArthroCare’s Marketing Department.

Charitable contribution grant requests

ArthroCare practices good corporate citizenship by providing charitable contributions (monetary and in-kind) to charitable organizations to support the development of knowledge and education in the medical sciences and the expansion of health care resources for the benefit of patients. Because ArthroCare is committed to the highest standards of compliance worldwide (embodied, for example, in local laws and in the various self-regulatory codes – e.g., AdvaMed in the United States, and Eucomed in Europe), we follow a formal charitable contribution request submission process. This ensures that ArthroCare and its partners in the health care industry continue to comply with the laws, guidance, and rules that regulate our industry. ArthroCare never offers or pays charitable contributions to anyone in return for business or to achieve an improper business advantage.

If you wish to request a charitable contribution from ArthroCare, you must submit a request in writing on your charitable organization’s letterhead that includes the following:

  • Name of your charitable organization, and, regarding the person submitting the request on behalf of your charitable organization (the “requestor”), the requestor’s name, title and affiliation with your charitable organization;
  • Detailed description of your organization’s charitable mission – you must describe the community and humanitarian benefits your organization provides through its activities;
  • Documentation that substantiates your charitable organization’s designation by the appropriate national or local authority as a charity that is qualified as a tax-exempt organization (e.g., in the U.S., 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status), or other similar classification regarding non-U.S. charitable organizations;
  • The type (in-kind or monetary) and amount of the requested charitable contribution. In-kind charitable contribution requests must detail the type and number of items requested; monetary contributions need only state the proposed amount of the requested charitable contribution;
  • A detailed description of your charitable organization’s intended use for the charitable contribution, including a description of the community and humanitarian benefits served by the contribution. If a charitable contribution will go to support a specific program (as opposed to charitable contributions designated to general funds), your charitable organization should include any materials related to the program(s) supported;
  • If your charitable organization intends to acknowledge the donation, or provide naming rights or affiliations in connection with the contribution (e.g., ArthroCare’s logo on a gala program, naming rights to a fundraising event), a description of what such acknowledgement, rights or affiliations entail; and
  • Documentation of any necessary disclosures, approvals or authorizations from the appropriate national, regional or local authorities (if any) that may be required.

NOTE: ArthroCare will not grant charitable contributions as a means to purchase marketing opportunities from or with any person or entity. Proposals for marketing opportunities should be sent separately to ArthroCare’s Marketing Department.

To submit a charitable contribution grant request, please send an email to GrantRequests@Arthrocare.com.
