Adoption of Coblation^® technology for tonsillectomy has grown significantly in the last several years. ArthroCare ENT offers a number of specially designed plasma wands that can be selected based on user preference and can be used for either total tonsillectomy or intracapsular tonsillectomy. Concomitant adenoidectomy procedures, if indicated, can typically also be performed with the same device.

Coblation-based bipolar plasma devices are designed to operate at a relatively low temperature to gently dissolve and/or shrink target tissue with minimal thermal damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
