3. Visit to a Coblation ENT

If you are sent to an ENT specialist for further examination of your tonsils, you can expect the ENT specialist to review your medical history and perform a detailed examination of your upper airway.

The doctor will also review the patient’s sleep history and quality of life and may perform a sleep study called a “polysomnography”. Polysomnography is a diagnostic test designed to collect information on a number of physiologic variables during sleep.

Based on the exam, the ENT may recommend a tonsillectomy. Ask your doctor about special things that your child should do before he or she goes in for surgery. Be sure to follow your doctor's directions closely.
