Is virtually painless and has a low incidence of side-effects
  • Why is my nose always stuffy?

Often the cause of chronic stuffy nose is enlarged turbinates. Turbinates are small, bony structures located in the nasal airway covered with mucous membranes. Allergies or other conditions can cause irritation, inflammation, and enlargement of turbinates, resulting in the blocked nasal airway we know as "stuffy nose."

  • What are turbinates?

Nasal turbinates are three bony and soft-tissue structures inside the nose that are covered with mucous membranes. As we inhale through the nose, air passes over the turbinates. The turbinates help to warm and clean the air before it enters the lungs. Sometimes allergies, infections or colds cause the membranes to become irritated and swell, blocking the passage of air. In some persons, the turbinates can be excessively large, resulting in significant nasal obstruction and causing difficulty in breathing.
