Sleep disordered breathing

Treatment for Sleep-Disordered Breathing

Sleep-disordered breathing is a range of disorders that includes increased resistance to airflow in the upper airway, snoring, shallow breathing, breathing pauses, and, in extreme cases, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The most common symptom of SDB is loud snoring during the night, although people with this condition may also suffer from daytime sleepiness, depressed moods, irritability, and lack of focus. Untreated, SDB can lead to severe medical conditions.

Depending on the patient, a number of procedures may help to relieve SDB, including sinus surgery, treatment of snoring, and tonsillectomy. The most effective treatment for SDB in children is tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy. Coblation has been used to perform a wide variety of procedures to treat SDB.

Coblation is not a heat-driven process. As a result, surrounding healthy tissue is preserved allowing for a fast and easy recovery. Patients typically return home shortly after the procedure, and can experience a noticeable improvement within one to four weeks.
