Sinus Surgery

Coblation Assisted Sinus Surgery

As a tool for endoscopic sinus surgery, Coblation® offers a number of potential advantages such as minimal blood loss and enhanced operating visibility. Results indicate that paranasal sinus mucosa heals favorable with following Coblation (see Wound Healing in the Rabbit Paranasal Sinuses after Coblation Surgery.PDF). Coblation precisely dissects or ablates soft tissue while preserving the intergrity of surrounding healthy tissue and also offers integrated bipolar coagulation for optimal hemostasis. In addition; the lower operating temperatures of Coblation can minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The PROcise™ EZ View Sinus Wand was designed specifically for Coblation sinus surgery.

Potential advantages of Coblation in sinus surgery include:

  • Integrated ablation, suction, and bipolar coagulation for optimal hemostasis
  • Enhnaced surgeon visibility providing safe navigation and orientation in the sinuses
  • Minimal intraoperative bleeding
  • Can be used endoscopically
  • Low thermal profile with operating temperatures of 40-70° C
